Neil Sherman
"Neilhead"
Bass Guitarist, Vocalist
Neil Sherman added a touch soul and a huge middle finger to the Dimeslots when he joined in 1981. Neil was a talented soccer player and musician when he arrived at W&M in 1979. Neil and Bill W. were taking music classes together at the time when Reid Harrison stepped down for a temporary break from the Dimeslots.
Neil joined the band for his first show when the Dimeslots played on the steps of W&M Hall for the post-race celebration of the Colonial Relays Half Marathon (in which Reid was running). Ironically, it was on that day that a friend of Ed's sister Jeanne was in the crowd watching. Until that time the 'slots had worked with drummers Jeff Jordy and Wright Deiter (who was playing that day). But on this day Gary Littlepage came out to see the band and later that summer expressed his interest in playing with the band.

From that day on Neil pulled duties on the Bass while Reid moved on to play with the popular campus blues band, Corner Street Blues (later known as the Big Dogs)

Neil's time with the Dimeslots represented a substantial musical change in the direction of the slots, and with the concurrent addition of a true professional drummer, the Slots began to hit their stride.

After W&M, Neil worked in Washington in a copyright office while concurrently pursuing his musical career. Neil recorded on Bill's demo tape for "The Invoices" (Bill's first major original band) and performed and recorded with The Mondays and Modest Proposal (both Featuring Neal Augenstein). He later moved to NYC to live with his former W&M roommate Jon Stewart later meeting sweetheart Donna Voss. During his time in NY he performed and recorded regularly with The Reveals and the Cash Registers.

Neil passed unexpectedly in 2000 from a seizure on a subway in NYC after a night of playing indoor soccer (the sport he loved), the lingering result of a head injury Neil suffered years before in 1983. His legacy lives on today as do the love and countless memories of those who called Neil a friend.
